MAD’HA is one of the splendid wilayats in the Governorate of Musandam. A settlement of approximately 2,000 people, it is situated on a 75-hectare landlocked island of Oman, surrounded on all sides by the emirates of Sharjah, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah. But inside the Mad’ha settlement is yet another tiny settlement, the village of Nahwa. Mad’ha is about 370 km away from the Governorate of Muscat, 40 km from Shinas, and it has 16 villages including the new Mad’ha, Al Ghona and Saad.

The government continues to improve the quality of services provided to citizens in the Wilayat of Mad’ha in Musandam Governorate, in terms of quantity and quality, and to overcome the obstacles related to the development process. this is clearly evident through the projects that have been implemented and the ones currently in process.

Mohammed Al Mad’hani, the representative of Mad’ha to the Shura Council, said that several government departments were opened in the wilayat to facilitate and provide services with the aim of creating an ideal environment for development. The wilayat is currently witnessing the establishment of projects that contribute to the exploitation of its touristic components and strengthening the economic and technical structure in general which brings more development, prosperity and growth opportunities.

In this regard, he pointed out that work is currently underway on the completion of Mad’ha Hospital, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2022. It includes more than 30 beds and 14 clinics, including internal clinics, children, obstetrics and dentistry. the hospital also includes an emergency and accident department ICU, cardiac unit, and dialysis. He explained that the hospital will work to raise the efficiency of the health system and reduce the movement of citizens for long distances to obtain health care services.

He touched on the importance of communication technologies in various aspects of economic and social life. Efforts have resulted in the actual operation of the wilayat’s fibre-optic network bypassing all technical obstacles that prevented it in the past, and the service is currently being delivered to all homes and commercial establishments.

He indicated that the water desalination plant was completed last July to cover the geographical area of the entire wilayat with a production capacity of 2000 cubic meters per day. “this amount exceeds the actual rate of consumption, equivalent to 700 cubic meters per day, as work is progressing at an accelerated pace to complete the water network connected to the public water network in the “Mushhaitan” area, which is expected to be completed before the end of this year. It will solve a problem that the residents of that area have suffered from for a long time.

“Employing the wilayat’s strategic location in terms of economic and tourism aspects will contribute to increasing income and promoting development concepts, stressing the need to work on creating the necessary conditions in order to create an ideal environment for development and optimal exploitation for available resources”, he added.
