Benghazi police stations again came under attack again on Sunday (May 12th).

Bombs targeted the al-Gwarcha and al-Uruba police stations. Both buildings saw light damage.

On Friday, bomb attacks targeted the Ras Obeida and Al-Madina police stations in Libya's second city causing extensive damage to the buildings and cars parked nearby.

The al-Madina main police station at the heart of Benghazi was targeted by attackers on a vehicle who hurled an improvised explosive device (IED) above the station wall.

The Ras Abeida police station was attacked by two vehicles. The first vehicle opened fire at the station, while a person from the second vehicle placed an IED at the station's entrance. They then fled the scene.

In other week-end news, an old three-story building in the heart of Tripoli collapsed on Friday, killing five people.

The third floor collapsed onto the second and first floors, noted local council chief Sadat al-Badri. He said that those killed came from two families and included a pregnant woman. Two other people were wounded.

"The cause of collapse was the bad condition of the building," he added. "People living in similar buildings will be moved as soon as possible."

"Such an incident can lead to the dismissal of government or head of state in civilised countries that have no such elites like we have here in our country to praise the government," said political activist Walid al-Lafi.

Al-Sadek al-Tarhouni, a journalist, added: "We all know that the government is unable to protect its own institutions and departments. The government received its budget for this year only last week."
