BEIRUT (Zawya Dow Jones)--Lebanon's national carrier Middle East Airlines, or MEA, said it began Monday operating its first direct route between Beirut and Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The country's only passenger airline, which is owned by the Central Bank of Lebanon, said in a statement posted on its website that by operating this route it will be covering 81% of the Lebanese diaspora in Africa.
Earlier this year, MEA added the two Iraqi destinations Baghdad and Erbil, to its network as well as Madinah in Saudi Arabia. It also resumed flights to Berlin and Brussels and increased the frequency of its flights to existing destinations.
