Lebanese Culture Minister here Monday stressed need for broadening and strengthening cultural cooperation between his country and Iran.
According to IRNA correspondent in Beirut, Tamam Salam proposed the matter in a meeting with the Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Beirut, Mojtaba Ferdowsipur at a meeting here the two sides reviewed Lebanon's general status quo.
Salam further emphasized, "Keeping in mind that an atmosphere of national unity is attained in Lebanon following the reaching of greements among Lebanese political groups in Doha, activation of ilateral cultural cooperation has become a necessity."
He further reiterated, "Any attempt made by the IRI Embassy in that respect would be dully appreciated more than ever."
Iran's Cultural Attache in Lebanon is sponsor of various levels of Persian language and Iranology courses, literary and poetry nights, publication and distribution of books and periodicals, translation and publication of selected Iranian books in Arabic language, holding exhibitions on various occasions, exchange of university students and professors, and some other cultural activities aimed at boosting cultural ties.
