KUWAIT, Sept 29 (KUNA) -- The Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) - a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) - received the gold award in occupational health and safety from the British Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
The annual award-giving ceremony for the prestigious RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2011 was held in Glasgow, Scotland, last week, according to a PIC statement issued here on Thursday.
PIC's Deputy Managing Director for Fertilizers Jehad Nasser Alhajji received the award from RoSPA's President Lord Jordan of Bournville in the presence of RoSPA's Awards Manager David Rawlins and Director of PIC's Division of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Mejbel Al-Shemmeri.
In press statements on the sidelines of the ceremony, Rawlins said the institutions, which show constant commitment to improve occupational health and safety and prevent accidents, deserve respect and appreciation.
PIC proved to be one of the firms that made outstanding achievements in the improvement of occupational safety and environment, the RoSPA Awards Manager affirmed.
He noted that the awards are given according to assessment of a firm meeting various standards of occupational health, safety and environment as well as strong administration and effective evolvement by all personnel in risk management, effective communication and risk analysis and control.
RoSPA is a registered charity that has been at the heart of accident prevention in the UK and around the world for more than 90 years; it was founded in 1917.
