KUWAIT, Aug 17 (KUNA) -- Music lovers in Kuwait were taken to the mystical land of Persia by the Iranian Nirez Troupe, which presented a colorful music recital at Abdulaziz Hussein Center Thursday evening.

The four female instrumentalists and the solo male singer presented a selection of Persian pieces using their country's traditional instruments: Santur, Qanoun, Tombak, and Tar.

Although the recital was performed in Persian, the tone and music were enough to convey meaning and touch the very emotions of the audience.

The troupe groups Dr. Maleeha Saeedi on the Qanoun, Arfaa Atraei on the Santur, Siba Tubaikhi on the Tar, Brisa Arshadi on the Tombak, and finally the singer Aref Ahsan.

The performance comes as part of the National Council for Culture, Art and Letter's "Cultural Summer 2" festival.
