RABAT, Sept 6 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Ambassador to Morocco Salah Al-Baijan hailed as "pivotal" the role of Moroccan-Kuwaiti Friendship Week which kicked off here Wednesday in giving momentum to the bilateral economic and strategic ties between the two countries.
The inauguration of the week by Mohammad Muatassim, special advisor for Moroccan King Mohammad VI, indicates the importance attributed by the Moroccan and Kuwaiti leaders to the bilateral ties, Al-Baijan told KUNA Thursday.
The event is being held under aegis of Moroccan Prime Minister Driss Jettou and Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs Faisal Al-Hajji will achieve great success.
It is a landmark event in the historical bilateral ties backed by the wise leaderships of Moroccan King Mohammad VI and His Highness the Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, he asserted.
The participation of several Kuwait economic institutions, government and non-government organizations and firms in the week indicates the ever-growing economic, political and cultural ties between the two countries, Al-Baijan pointed out.
Terming the Kuwaiti-Moroccan partnership as "leading and strategic," he asserted that it played a major role in cementing the ties between the two sisterly countries.
It will provide a good chance for Moroccan investors and economists to exchange views with their Kuwaiti peers.
The Kuwaiti investors are increasingly interested in the Moroccan market due to its great economic potentials.
Al-Hajji praised the efforts being made by King Mohammad VI to attract more Arab and foreign investments to Morocco.
As part of the friendship week, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) planned to hold several activities including an economic seminar, slated for Thursday with the participation of a number of experts in the economic and investment spheres.
Ahmad Al-Mijalhim, a KFAED Engineering Adviser shed light during the seminar on various contributions carried out by the fund in financing 32 developmental projects in Morocco.
The contributions reflect the ideal cooperation between the two Arab countries, Al-Mijalhim told KUNA after the seminar.
The relationship between KFAED and Morocco is deeply-rooted and historical ties, he said in a lecture to the seminar.
The projects funded by KFAED in Morocco include agricultural and water conservation projects, power projects and highways, he pointed out.
The KFAED plays a leading role in Morocco's sustainable development, he noted, reviewing the development of relations between KFAED and Morocco.
The Morocco-Kuwait Friendship Week will come to a close on Friday, September 8.
