KUWAIT: The temporary visa ban placed on citizens from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan is still in place pending further notice, said the Director of the Hawally Division of the Ministry of Interior's General Migration Department.
In an interview published in Al-Rai, Brig Gen Talal Marafi explained that lifting the restriction which he termed "delayed entrance until further notice," depends on the security situations in these countries. "Kuwait has the right to take precautionary security measures to protect its security from being affected by regional disturbances," Maarafi confirmed.
He insisted that no exceptions will be made to the law except for individuals who entered Kuwait prior to April 24 but failed to finalize paperwork before the law's enforcement.
The exception was made by Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Hmoud Al-Sabah based on humanitarian considerations," he explained, reported Al-Rai. Among the topics discussed during the interview was a project to allow non-Kuwaiti residents to sponsor their parents.
