Amman, July 24 (Petra)
His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Thursday, stressed the need to stop Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible.
The King said that Jordan condemns targeting civilians and Israel's collective punishment of the Palestinians in the coastal enclave.
The King was speaking as he chaired part of the Cabinet meeting, where he stressed the efforts exerted by Jordan with the Arab brethren and the international community to stop the Palestinian bloodshed, the Israeli aggression and the escalation in Gaza.
"Jordan will continue to provide all forms of humanitarian support and relief to ease the suffering of our brothers in Gaza," the King told the ministers, while noting the assistance provided by the Jordanian field hospital in the Strip.
The difficult situation in Gaza, the King said, reiterates the importance of reaching a just and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian cause. Failure to achieve peace would increase the feelings of frustration and instability in the Middle East, the Monarch said.
The King also warned against the unilateral and escalatory Israeli measures and practices in Jerusalem, mainly at the Al Aqsa Mosque.
"The Palestinian cause remains the core of the Middle East conflict," His Majesty affirmed.
Regarding the security challenges on the northern and eastern borders, the King affirmed that the security and military precautions taken by the military are strong and effective. "Our borders are secure and well-controlled," King Abdullah stated, noting the readiness to deal with any attempt to tamper with the security and stability of the Kingdom.
"I assure all Jordanians over our northern and eastern borders," King Abdullah said, voicing confidence in the Jordanian armed forces personnel.
Meanwhile, the King requested that the government meet the needs of all Jordanians effectively and in a timely manner. He also urged a solution to the water problems in the northern and southern parts of the Kingdom, affirming the readiness of the military and security departments to help the Ministry of Water provide water to all citizens.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour stressed that his government is exerting its utmost to stop the Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip. He also spoke of a number of issues which are currently being addressed by his team.
