ASTANA, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Police were called to Abu Dhabi developer Aldar's ALDR.AD massive construction site in the Kazakh capital Astana late on Saturday after a confrontation between foreign construction workers and local security guards, local media reported.

Central Asia's tallest tower, the Abu Dhabi Plaza project, is under construction at the site, which will include a hotel as well as residential, retail and office space.

A joint venture between Dubai-based contractor Arabtec ARTC.DU and Consolidated Contractors Company is working on Aldar's project in the city. The joint venture could not be reached for comments on Saturday.

"A conflict took place between the employees of a security company and foreign workers employed at the Abu Dhabi Plaza project," Sputnik Kazakhstan news agency quoted Information Minister Dauren Abayev as saying.

"The conflict has been resolved."

News website Tengrinews.kz quoted Astana mayor Aset Isekeshev as saying police had been called to the scene. He also said the conflict between "security guards and foreign workers" had been resolved, without providing any details.

Abu Dhabi Plaza, featuring a tower of 382 metres, is set to be completed this year. A major fire hit the construction site last year.
