Amman - The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Jordan, Bulat Sarsenbayev, termed the Kingdom an important partner and said his country's investments in Jordan's pharmaceutical industry have reached $400 million due to the political stability that Jordan enjoys in the region.

In an interview with Petra, the ambassador said that the two countries are working to remove all technical obstacles hindering further improvement in trade relations in order to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples, stressing the importance of benefiting from the investment opportunities available in both countries.

The ambassador highlighted the importance of Jordan's drug factory set up in Kazakhstan which will soon start producing and selling drugs in Kazakhstan, thus helping the country's economy which currently imports most of its drug requirements.

With regard to facilitating trade relations between the two countries, the Kazakh official said that his country is looking forward to the railway project that will pass through Iran and link up with the Arab Gulf and then on to Jordan. The railway project will help promote economic cooperation within the framework of economic agreements signed by the two countries.

The ambassador added that his country has put in place all technical procedures to receive 20 students from Jordan to study in its universities and academic institutes, pointing out that Jordan receives the same number of Kazakh students.

The ambassador also underlined the importance of direct flights from Amman to Almaty, along with a simplified visa regime saying his country expects to attract around 15,000 Khazahk tourists annually and boost cooperation in the field of tourism.

The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Jordan were forged 20 years ago, later enhanced by bilateral official visits paid by His Majesty King Abdullah II to Astana and Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Jordan.

The ambassador highlighted the importance of Al-Farabi Center for the Kazakh Language opened last December at the University of Jordan in cooperation with the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for conducting scientific research and holding academic conferences and workshops in different fields.

The two countries had signed many cooperation agreements in the fields of culture, higher education, economy, trade, investment, tourism and many other important fields.
