BAGHDAD: Iraq's Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, has received his Kuwaiti Counterpart, Sheikh Nasser al-Subah, who arrived in Baghdad International Airport on Wednesday, in an official reception ceremony, according to the Kuwaiti News Agency, KUNA.

"Kuwait's Prime Minister, Sheikh Nasser Al-Ahmed Al-Subah, has arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday, on his first official visit for the sisterly Republic of Iraq, in response to an invitation by Iraq's Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki," KUNA reported, adding that the latter had "received him in Baghdad International Airport, in an official reception, attended by a number of Iraqi officials." It said that Subah would confer during his short visit with his Iraqi Counterpart, Nouri al-Maliki, to congratulate him on the occasion of formation of the new Iraqi government, as well as meeting several other political leaders, pointing out that Subah "would discuss bilateral relations between the two sisterly countries, and means for their further development in all fields." KUNA said that the Kuwaiti delegation, accompanying Prime Minister Subah, comprises Kuwait's Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed Subah al-Salem Al-Subah, the Advisor of the Kuwaiti Emir's Diwan (Office), Mohammed Abdullah Abul-Hassan, as well as Kuwait's Foreign Ministry's Undersecretary, Ambassador Khalid Suleiman al-Jarallah.

Iraq's Foreign Ministry had reported early in the day that Kuwait's Prime Minister, Nasser al-Ahmed al-Subah, would arrive in Baghdad on an official visit to meet a number of Iraqi officials and congratulate the Iraqi Prime Minister for the formation of the new Iraqi government, as well as discussing the joint relations between both countries.
