DUBAI (Dow Jones)--Iraq's State Oil Marketing Co., or SOMO, is requesting internationally recognized and experienced inspection companies to bid for a crude oil loading inspections contract at the Basra and Khor Al Amaya oil terminals.

According to a faxed tender document seen by Dow Jones Newswires, the one-year contract would include the inspection of ship tanks before loading and the measurement of the loaded quantity and quality.

Bids are due May 8.

The terminals are located in the south of the country, from where most of the 1.5 million barrels a day of oil is exported. Persistent sabotage of pipelines and oil installations have kept northern exports mostly shut in since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.
