Iran has called for expediting expansion of economic and cultural ties between Iran and Turkey.
In a meeting with the outgoing Turkish Ambassador to Iran Umit Yardim, Communications and Information Technology Minister Mahmoud Vaezi said both Iran and Turkey are located in a turbulent region, IRNA reported.
Vaezi said the more the two stable countries expand their economic and cultural activities, the more success they would gain.
"The two countries enjoy many cultural, religious and economic commonalities and are determined to remove obstacles and problems," he said.
The Turkish ambassador said the new government in Turkey has initiated a good start in bilateral relations and with regard to the documents signed between the two countries, development of bilateral ties is tangible.
Yardim said Iran and Turkey are among influential and important countries in the Middle East and bilateral cooperation in economic, cultural and political fields will benefit the entire region.
