MUSCAT -- Hasan Juma Backer Trading & Contracting Co. LLC has bagged one of the biggest water supply contracts in Qatar valued at Qatar Riyals 170 million (approximately RO17 million) for Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa).

For HJB, this is the second major project in Qatar and for the same client.

The project comprises engineering, procurement and construction of West Bay & Gharrafa Pumping Stations with 24km of distribution network, 24 pumps of higher capacity to meet the rising demand of water.

The pumping stations are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and fully automated by SCADA system.

HJB has successfully completed a project recently for Kahramaa.

The project valued at QR70 million (approx. RO7 million) for construction of ground reservoirs and pumping stations at four different locations -- Umm Salal, Al Khor, Al Shahania and Al Ghuwaraiah.

Each station comprises of ground reservoirs of six million gallon storage capacity and pumping stations comprising five pumps of 132 KW capacity controlled by variable frequency drives and fully automated by SCADA system.

Apart from the above projects, HJB is currently executing civil finishes package for a 35 storey luxury Tower Hotel at Doha.

HJB has already established its presence in Qatar construction industry by bagging the above contracts on technical merits in competition with international construction majors for water supply projects.

HJB is actively participating in several tenders and plans to expand its operations further. The contract was signed in recently held ceremony on October 11, at Doha.
