Dubai, 2nd Jan. 2010 (WAM) -- Health Minister Dr. Hanif Hassan has praised Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as a world renowned figure of historic groundbreaking initiatives, a generous donor and a beacon of humanitarian work.
''Sheikh Mohammed's charity has gone beyond the UAE to the world at large,'' said Dr. Hassan in a message of congratulation to Sheikh Mohamed on the fourth anniversary of his accession. Through his humanitarian initiatives, he said, Sheikh Mohammed offered the helping hand to alleviate suffering and pain of underprivileged persons around the world. ''Dubai Cares, a philanthropic establishment launched by Sheikh Mohammed in September 2007 with the aim of improving access to primary education for children in developing nations. Dubai Cares works to eliminate the underlying causes that prevent childrens access to quality primary education. It offered education to one million poor children. ''Noor Dubai, another international charitable initiative launched by Sheikh Mohammed in September 2008 for the prevention and treatment of blindness and low vision. This ambitious initiative has deliver preventive eye care to over 7 million people as part of its drive to realize its vision of a world free from curable forms of blindness. '' Sheikh Mohammed has made tremendous contributions to the march of progress and prosperity spearheaded by President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan through laying down a holistic, ambitious strategy for development targeting all government bodies in order to create a new mechanism for government work,''the minister added. ''The achievements that the UAE has made in a short span of time since he took the reins of government were far greater and staggering. Guided by his astute leadership vision, Sheikh Mohammed has placed the UAE in the club of advanced nations, '' the minister continued. Dr Hassan added that Sheikh Mohammed also lends special care to health care services out of his belief that the citizen's health is most precious thing that ''wehave''.
