SOHAR -- The new LuLu hypermarket, conveniently located at Sohar, will be formally inaugurated tomorrow.

Once opened, it will present the residents of the Batinah region with an unparallel shopping ambience comparable with the best in the region. Extending over an area of almost 200,000 sq ft, this central shopping facility will offer a wide variety of product lines under one roof.

A special feature of LuLu Hypermarket will be the extensive supermarket section with fresh vegetables, fruits, butchery and delicatessen serving hot and ready-to-eat foods and special counters serving the best of bakes and cakes and an array of Arabic sweets and delicacies.

In addition, the hypermarket will also feature a number of other outlets including the Damas and Atlas Jewellery, Oman-UAE Exchange, Nawras, Dar Opticals, Amalia Perfumes, Top Note Perfumes, Hour Choice, SARCO Watches, Computer Shop, One and 3G GSM outlets and a host of other speciality stores from cosmetics to coffee shops. The layout has been strategically designed to enable uncluttered browsing, easy access to product categories and faster shopping with easy check-out counters.

Shoppers will also benefit by the ample car parking facility on offer. Lulu Hypermarket, Sohar is the latest addition to EMKE Group's chain of outlets. The group presently has 46 outlets Lulu Hypermarkets and Al Falah Plazas in the UAE, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait. "Immediate plans include opening of new hypermarkets in Yemen, Kuwait and the UAE. Oman is very important in our future growth plan and we are going full steam ahead with our new project at Al Burj and Salalah which will be opening soon. As always we firmly believe in the government's policy of 'Omani Products, our First Choice," Yusuffali added.

The group, which also has major interests in wholesale and retail distribution of food and non-foodstuff, manufacturing, export-import, frozen and processed food and IT, has operational bases in all major cities of the Middle East, Asia and Africa. "Oman is progressing very fast in every area of activity under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, and we wish to be part of this growth process and will be looking at investing more in retail, manufacturing, education, and so on," said Yusuffali.

"As part of our group's policy we have laid special emphasis on recruiting Omani nationals in our various projects and we will be sending them to our other projects across the GCC as we find them very dedicated and efficient. Fully acknowledging the significance of training the local youth we have been conducting on-the-job training for these national recruits for more than six months at our different outlets."
