Damascus - The General Women Union and the Palestinian-Iranian Friendship Association organized on Wednesday an event at al-Assad National Library to mark the anniversary of the victory of the Lebanese resistance in the July 2006 war.
In a speech, Chairwoman of the General Women Union Majeda Quteit said that the victory of the resistance proved that tyranny doesn't last and that faith is stronger than everything else in the world.
She said that the war waged on Syria is because of its commitment to the Arab nation's causes and its support for the resistance, with this war being waged by proxy and carried out by murderers and criminals from various countries who are funded by certain Arab countries.
In turn, coordinator at the Palestinian-Iranian Friendship Association, Sahar Jebril, called upon all the free Arabs to support Syria against the conspiracy targeting it, stressing the need to formulate a project to defend Syria.
In a speech on behalf of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Katayoun Shebani said that the resistance's victory in 2006 was an important turning point, marking a bright page in the history of struggle against injustice and tyranny written by the valiant Lebanese resistance.
The event included a screening of a documentary on the crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, Syria's role in supporting resistance movements, and the victories of the resistance against Israeli occupation.
The event also included a handicrafts and arts exhibition featuring items made by people from Palestinian camps in Syria who were affected by terrorism, and by members of the General Women Union. The revenue of this exhibition will go to terrorism-affected families in camps.
