WAM ABU DHABI, July 8th, 2009: UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E Dr Mohammed Anwar Gargash on Wednesday attended a lecture by Bulent Aras, Professor of International Relations, Istanbul-based Isik University and researcher at the Ankara-based Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA).

The lecture titled 'Turkish Foreign Policy on Arab World' was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Shangri La Hotel in Abu Dhabi City.

The lecturer addressed Turkey's new approach to Arab countries as well as its openness to the neighbouring countries after decades of focusing on domestic affairs under the slogan "Peace at home, peace in the rest of the world."The lecturer also elaborated on the developments in Turkey's foreign policy and the political, economic and social circumstances which led Turkey to open up to the Arab World.

The Director General of the Ministry Juma'a Mubarak Al Junaibi and other senior officials and diplomats were among the audience.

Dr Abdullah Al Hay, Director of Research and Studies Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said this lecture is part of a series of lectures organized by the Research and Studies Department at the Ministry.

The lectures are aimed at keeping the Ministry's staff and diplomats updated on various issues related to the UAE foreign policy.
