Muscat: The total amount of fish production in the governorates of South and North Al Batinah reached more than 61 thousand tons during the first nine months of 2020, an increase of 23 per cent.

The Director General of Fisheries in North and South Al-Batinah Governorates said in a statement, "The total amount of fish production in the two governorates reached during the first nine months of 2020 about 61,386 tons, with a growth rate of 23 per cent, a value growth rate of 5 per cent compared to the same period from 2019."

In a statement to Oman News Agency, the Director General added that: "The number of fishermen in the two governorates reached 15,152, and 15 fish markets, employing 580 citizens."
