Dubai, Feb 11th, 2012 (WAM)--Fazza Championship for Falconry today concluded its activities in Al Ruwayyah in Dubai.

The championship was organized under the patronage of H. H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.

The organizers, participants and audience followed the championships of "Elite Championship" held today with the participation of the best five falcons after selecting the best falcon from each of the five categories including (Pure Gear, Pure Shahin, Pure Hurr, Gear Shahin and Gear Tabaa).

At the conclusion of the championship, Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmook, Executive Director of Fazza Championships, honored the first ten winners of each category.

The results of the first winners for the first five categories are as follows: the winner of Pure Gear is Mohammed Sultan Al Ketbi, after flying the distance in 23.620 seconds. The winner of Pure Shahin is Suhail Saeed Sultan, after flying the distance in 23.741 seconds. The winner of Pure Hurr is Ahmed Mohammed bin Mejren, after flying the distance in 24.905 seconds. The winner of Gear Shahin is Ahmed Obaid Budhom, after flying the distance in 23.388 seconds. The winner of Gear Tabaa is Ahmed Khalifa bin Mejren, after flying the distance in 22.803 seconds.

The falconry tournament is the second championship of Fazza Heritage Championships that will last until the mid of April.

Abdullah bin Dalmook said: "The support of H. H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, contributes considerably to achieving the desired objectives and goals of this championship through his close attention and attendance as well as his continuous support to the youth and sharing them these Heritage Championships." "The high levels of falcons participating in the race which is recognized by the followers of this type of tournaments as well as the increasing public and media follow up underline the fact that the main objectives of Fazza Championship are properly met. These objectives are meant to maintain, exercise and spread the UAE Heritage and ensure communicating its details to the subsequent generations. This explains why Fazza Heritage Championships receives this matchless attention," he added.

The Falconry Championship that lasted for eight days had a slight change this year comparing to last year. This change is about the distance which the falcon will fly in the championship. This years distance is 500 meters instead of 400 meters which has been prevailing in the past years.
