Egypt-based Upper Egypt for Food Industries (UEFI) will spend about EGP 200 million (USD 33 million) to build two food plants in El Menia and Beni Suef governorates, the chief executive told Zawya.
An EGP 100 million plant in El Menia will start producing tomato concentrate in April 2013 after construction is completed in February 2013, Amr Hosny said. The plant is being constructed on on 20,000 square meters, will employ 250 people and have the capacity to produce 10,000 tons of concentrate per year, he said.
The Beni Suef plant, being constructed on 40,000 square meters at a similar cost of EGP 100 million, will produce up to 20,000 tons of frozen vegetables per year, Hosny said.
UEFI was established in 1999 with a paid-in capital of EGP 99 million.
