Cairo – Egypt has started implementing a project to connect all government buildings with optical fibres, the minister of communications and information technology Amr Talaat said.

About 35,000 government premises spread across all governorates will be connected to optical fibres over a period of 36 months at a total cost of EGP 6 billion, Talaat added in a statement on Monday.

This came during the communication minister's meeting with the minister of planning and economic development Hala El-Saaed as 20 digital transformation projects have been transferred from the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
