DUBAI, 19th July, 2017 (WAM) -- The Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, IACAD, has inaugurated the Sheikha Azija bint Saqr Al Nahyan Mosque, which was sponsored by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Saqr Al Nahyan.
The inauguration event was attended by IACAD management and staff members. According to the department, the mosque was built in the 'Fatimi' style and its total capacity is 1,050 people. The mosque also includes two domes and two minarets with a height of 34 metres, as well as the Imams quarters, a large patio and parking. The Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department is the first patron of mosques in the emirate that encourages donors and builders to hand over mosques for maintenance and care, due to its desire to provide comfort for people who come for prayers. The Department also aims to implement its strategic plans in the areas of construction and architecture, in cooperation with relevant authorities, based on the directives of the wise leadership and Dubais aspirations regarding urban development, as well as to promote the importance of mosques in peoples lives.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2017.
