Dubai: The tickets of the much-awaited Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) Grand Raffle for the grand prize of a BMW X5 4.8is and Dh100,000 in cash will go on sale today.
The DSS Grand Raffle, the biggest raffle draw of the summer season, is held under the aegis of the DSS in association with Arabian Gulf Mechanical Centre (AGMC), the exclusive importer of BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates and Emarat.
It has proved to be a major attraction of the summer fiesta in previous years.
Launched in 2004, the BMW raffle, as it is popularly known, is much in demand by residents as well as visitors.
Last year it saw a huge sale of tickets and 20 top of the line BMW cars were given away as prizes along with millions of dirhams in cash.
DSS chief operating officer Ebrahim Saleh said: "It has been a very popular event since its very first episode in 2004. This year too we are offering an expensive BMW car and cash prize and will once again be conducting the draws in public places which will be aired live on TV.
"One winner will be drawn for every 5,000 tickets sold. It's a great opportunity for people to try their luck and walk away with the grand prizes."
A promotional campaign will be held to encourage people to take part in the raffle by buying the draw coupons from Emarat petrol stations, he added.
Venues
The tickets for the DSS Grand raffle cost Dh200 each at Emarat petrol stations in Dubai as well as at the following shopping malls and street-side locations Deira City Centre, Al Reef Mall, BurJuman, Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Battuta Mall, Modhesh Fun City (Dubai World Trade Centre), Baniyas Street, Gold Souq and Al Fahidi Street.
