DriSteem Corporation, the leading manufacturer of humidification, evaporative cooling, and water treatment products, has installed a DriSteem STS (steam-to-steam) humidifier and Ultra-sorb XV steam dispersion panels at the renovated Canal View - Houghton County Skilled Nursing Facility in Hancock, Michigan.

Built in 1951, Canal View underwent a major transformation and two-story addition in 2017 to enlarge the common areas and bring the mechanical systems up to date. A vital design condition for the senior living facility was the need to maintain specified humidification levels at an indoor air temperature of 74°F.

Lane Bentsen, a consulting-specifying engineer with Hooker/DeJong, Inc., determined that the best humidification system to use for the facility was the STS-400 model because of its high capacity and healthy steam. DriSteem’s STS humidifier is capable of meeting design conditions even during sustained cold snaps to keep humidity levels high enough to limit the viability of bacteria and viruses that thrive in dry air.

DriSteem’s STS humidifier uses pressurised boiler steam in its heat exchanger to boil fresh water into clean unpressurised humidification steam. Steam generated by the STS humidifier reaches the air handler via the DriSteem Ultra-sorb XV steam dispersion panel which has a heat exchanger in the header that flashes any dispersion-generated condensate right back into humidification steam. This design results in zero water waste and eliminates the need for a condensate drain or additional pumps, valves, vents, or controls.

“Our STS humidifier will keep the residents of the facility healthy and comfortable,” said Mysty Hanson, Assistant Product Manager at DriSteem. -- Tradearabia News Service
