The humanitarian crisis in Sudan's Darfur region remains an issue that needs to be addressed.

The situation should not be turned into a topic that is highlighted only when it serves one political agenda or the other.

Over the past weeks, the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant against Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir is an issue that has dominated all matters relating to Sudan.

In reaction, the Sudanese government ordered the expulsion of 13 foreign aid organisations - most of which were carrying out their activities in Darfur.

Hence, the international community must urgently bring the situation in Darfur back into focus. US special envoy to Sudan J. Scott Gration, said that his visit to the country was "to look, listen, and learn".

It is important that the Darfur issue becomes a priority, especially for the Arab world.

The Organisation of Islamic Conference announced that it is setting up a project to help that particular region.

This will be achieved through coordinating efforts with NGOs and the United Nations and the project will be operational within two months.

If a solution is to be implemented, effective coordination in Darfur is a must.
