Muscat: Improvements to Muscat International Airport are going full steam ahead and companies have been invited to tender to build a new warehouse and provide maintenance services in the passenger terminal building.
The Oman Airport Management Company (OAMC) on Thursday said it “would like to invite international and local companies registered with the Tender Board to bid” to do the required work.
The work includes design and supervision consultancy services for construction of a central warehouse building at the airport.
OAMC is also looking for a company that can design, supply and install storage systems, equipment and tools for maintenance workshops.
In addition, the airports management company is inviting tenders for comprehensive operation and maintenance services of electromechanical and civil facilities in the passenger terminal building.
Although OAMC said the bid opening date will be announced at a later stage it requested all participating companies "provide a bank guarantee, issued by locally registered bank, for the sum of not less than 1% of the tender value".
Presently, Muscat International Airport is ranked among the top 10 airports in the Middle East, with an average annual growth forecast of 7.9%.
OAMC says it is aiming for Muscat Airport to be a world top 20 airport by 2020.
