KUWAIT, June 16, 2013: Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs of Kuwait Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Hmoud Al-Sabah said on Sunday that "State of Kuwait with all its institutions respects the rule of law on any verdict issued by the constitutional court."The Kuwaiti News Agency, KUNA quoted Minister's comments on the ruling of the Constitutional Court, which approved the single vote system today. The minister stressed that the court's decision today enhances the durability of the democratic system that is enjoyed by the State of Kuwait.
He added: "Kuwait has a proud history of respecting the constitution and maintaining the rule of law, and today's court ruling demonstrates the strength of our democratic institutions and our judicial system. The Government will continue to work tirelessly to achieve development and keep pace for a bright future for our country." The Kuwait's Supreme Constitutional Court today annulled the current parliament, elected in December 2012, while upholding the new one-voter, one-vote electoral system.
