Standard Chartered has appointed a new CEO to head the bank’s operations in Qatar.

Muhannad Mukahall, who has held senior assignments since joining the bank in 2013, will “solidify” Standard Chartered’s network in the Gulf state and expand its offering, according to a statement on Monday.

“With his deep banking and regional experience, [Mukahall] will lead the Standard Chartered Bank franchise in Qatar, strengthening the client base,” said Boutros Klink, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Middle East (ex UAE).

Mukhall had served the bank in Jordan as CEO and Head of Global Banking, and in Abu Dhabi as Head of Local Corporates.

Prior to joining the bank, Mukhall held multiple leadership roles at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Arab Bank, HSBC Dubai and Jordan Kuwait Bank.
