Alasco Group, a local company for tensile shades and membrane, opened its office at Al Moayyed Tower yesterday.

The new office of Alasco, which was established 11 years ago, was inaugurated by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr Hasan Fakhro. Present were Hussain Madan, Alasco's General Manager, Bassam El Zein, Sales and Marketing Manager and officials from the ministry and the group.

El Zein said that the group has extended greatly in the last one and half years. "When the company started as a small workshop we had two to three people working with us but now we are a team of 150 employees.

There are different sectors of the company and we have eight companies in total under us. Twenty per cent of our employees at present are sophisticated engineers."

He said: "The company, which had a turnover of two to three million dinars last years, is specialised in tensile shading and membrane and precast walls. Alasco Group is directed mainly to corporate projects and rarely deals with individual projects."

El Zein said the group has plans to expand in the GCC market after opening an office in Qatar that will follow with offices in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and UAE.

Alasco Group that also has factory of wooden and aluminum blinds, is at present working of projects at Al Areen and Royal University for Women in Bahrain.
