Tehran IRNA - Azeri President Ilham Aliyev left here for Iran`s northwestern provincial capital city of Tabriz on Wednesday.
The Azeri President was officially seen off by his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Khatami, Cooperatives Minister Ali Soufi and Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Pacific Affairs Mohsen Aminzadeh.During the official ceremony held at Sa`dabad Cultural Complex, the two states` presidents reviewed a guard of honor.
Aliyev, during his stay in Tabriz, is due to inspect the Tabriz Tractor-Manufacturing Company, Azeri consulate and Maqbaratol Shoara (poets` tomb).
Aliyev arrived here on Monday for an official three-day visit at the invitation of President Mohammad Khatami and in response to the latter`s visit to Azerbaijan in August 2004.
During his stay in Tehran, Aliyev held talks with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, President Mohammad Khatami, Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and several other senior officials in which they discussed bilateral and regional cooperation.
The two countries` officials signed nine memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and issued a joint press statement.
The Azeri ministers of foreign affairs, industries, education, health and development are accompanying Aliyev in his visit.
During President Khatami`s visit to Baku in August 2004, Iran and Azerbaijan inked 10 documents on expansion of political, security, economic and cultural relations.
