NEW DELHI - Emirates is the largest foreign airline for outbound and inbound international traffic to and from India, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) data in India.

Emirates is also the third-largest carrier if all of India’s domestic carriers are included for this statistical purpose, according to a DGCA data for the last quarter of 2022.

Mohammed Sarhan, Vice President of Emirates for India and Nepal, told local media yesterday that "India is going to be the next economic powerhouse of the world. So, we don’t see flight demand slowing down anytime soon. At least for the next five to 10 years, demand is going to do well.”

Sarhan said that even if there are more airlines in India, and Emirates operates more flights from India; demand will remain strong. Operating 334 weekly flights between Dubai and India, Emirates carried 4.45 million passengers between the two destinations last year.

He said the demand is robust for an expanded bilateral air services agreement. He added that Emirates already has interline agreements with almost all Indian carriers.
