The Ardebil-Mianeh Rail Project has made significant progress during the tenures of the past and present governments, said Roads and Urban Development Minister Ali Nikzad.
Speaking during his visit to the project site, Nikzad said 80 kilometers of the 175-kilometer Ardebil-Mianeh Railroad as well as the main stations are presently under construction.
He noted that the government is determined to work seriously till the end of its tenure, thus Cabinet members have made several trips to various provinces to accelerate the implementation of underway projects and resolve the problems.
Referring to the importance of the Ardebil-Mianeh Railroad, the minister said only 18 percent of the allocated budget were made available to the project last year (ended March 20) and this caused a delay in the process of building the railroad.
Nikzad noted that 24 km of tunnels and 10 large and small bridges should be built along the route of the railroad, pointing out that seven contractors are presently active in the project.
