Dubai 2003 has lined up two-night performances of a musical concert exclusively for participants at Annual Meetings of the of the World Bank Group and the IMF.

The concert - Lahazat Sharkiah (Oriental Moments) - has been especially conceived as part of the Dubai 2003 cultural programme by Marwan and Ghadi Rahbani.

The production will be performed on September 22 and 23, said Ahmed Al Banna, Assistant General Coordinator of Dubai 2003, the local host of the Annual Meetings that will take place in Dubai around the same dates.

"Lahazat Sharkiah represents and reflects the cultural side of Arabic heritage and civilisation. This unique programme - specially created as part of the Dubai 2003 cultural events programme - will introduce the thousands of high-profile participants to our history and our growth," said Al Banna.

"We want to show the world our cultural values after we have demonstrated to them our economic potential. We are proud and delighted to show this image to the world and to prove that the Arab nation - well known for hundreds of years for its poets, musicians and writers - is continuing the same tradition.

"The production captures the heritage of the Arab nation so that the international audience will have an idea about its richness and variety".

Marwan said Lahazat Sharkiah will also include tableaux from the Arab Orient with origins in national heritage and folklore. "The spectrum of colours, dress, movements, dances and choruses will express various regions," he explained.
