Dubai The UAE Chapter of the Alfonso Cavite (Philippines) Association will host their annual indoor sports festival today at the Shaikha Hind Bint Maktoum Al Maktoum sports hall, off Al Wasl Road.
The competition will consist of basketball and volleyball tournaments for men and women. The formal opening is scheduled for 10am and will be followed by the volleyball tournament for women.
“Our purpose is to promote unity among our fellow mates and build strong communication ties for support and community outreach programmes,” said Nympha S. Cubile, the general co-ordinator for today’s sports festival. “We wish to attract as many residents of Alfonso who are living in the UAE and the sports festival will go a long way in forging this unity,” she added.
The UAE Chapter of the Alfonso Cavite (Philippines) Association is composed of more than 200 members who hail from the city of Alfonso, Cavite in the Philippines.
