Abu Dhabi, 18th March 2010 (WAM) -- H.E. Dr. Mugheer Al-Khaili, Director of Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), pointed out that Abu Dhabis General Education strategy focuses on enhancing students practical capabilities in various aspects of the educational process in order to develop their skills and increase their understanding of academic theoretical subjects. This was communicated through a tour that he conducted yesterday at Khalifa Bin Zayed Secondary School. He observed the students whilst using their new laboratory equipment and supplies that are worth more than AED 6.5 million.
"The expenditure in schooling equipment is part of ADECs 10-Year Strategic Plan that is transforming Abu Dhabis education system into a system of education excellence. ADEC has already started implementing strategies that are providing students with better learning environments", added Dr. Al-Khaili. . "ADECs strategy focuses greatly on providing students with state-of-the-art facilities allowing them to develop the skills needed for a knowledge economy. The educational tools we are providing will help achieve this and help students reach their learning goals" he said. Dr. Al-Khaili emphasized that ADECs four key priorities are: providing all students in Abu Dhabi with better access to education, graduating highly qualified students, establishing affordable private education that complies with ADECs standards & criteria and maintaining & promoting UAE heritage & culture within the educational environment. He added that ADEC seeks to help students develop their leadership skills and capabilities through the changes in teaching and learning process to become more student-centred, allow students to acquire advanced learning & analytical skills and avoid memorization.
