Assilah, Morocco, July 21ts, 2010 (WAM) -- The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (Adach) has presented an outstanding musical performance of an adaptation of Rimski-Korsakovs Scheherazade Played with Arabic Instruments at ongoing Assilah Festival 2010 in Morocco.
The two-night performance took place last Saturday and Monday at Al Raysoni Palace and Prince Bandar Bin Sultan Library in Assilah. In this new version of Scheherazade, Maestro and adaptor Harout Fazlin dexterously merges oriental instruments (Oud, Nay, Qanun) and Arabic percussions with a string septet and takasim improvisation techniques without failing to maintain the four movements of Rimski-Korsakovs original composition. The ensemble performed this delicate adaptation at the Assilah Festival is comprised of highly talented musicians and soloists from the Middle East and Europe.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2010.
