CAIRO - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, Hossein Amir Abdullahian, stressed on Tuesday that resolving the crisis and realizing security in Syria can be made through comprehensive regional and international cooperation to activate the mechanism of political solution and halting all forms of violence and controlling the borders by the neighboring countries.

In an interview with Egyptian al-Osbou (the Week) Newspaper,  Abdullahian  said, "We support Syria politically, and we support the Syrian people through humanitarian aid, however, we do not interfere in the Syrian internal affairs."

Abdullahian pointed out that some media allegations on sending members from the Revolutionary Guard to fight in Syria are mere lies.

He described the decisions made by the Doha Summit on Syria as "Strategic mistake that made the Arab League a part of the problem, not the solution."

Abdullahian added that giving Syria's seat at the Arab League to the "Doha Coalition" is illegal, and it constitutes a precedence that can be exploited and activated on other members.

He noted that discussions and negotiations are still underway among Egypt, Iran and Turkey concerning the crisis in Syria, describing the Turkish behavior as "hasty."

He called for cooperation among the regional countries to prevent entry of weapons to the armed groups and extremist members.

Mehmanparast: Iran Supports Political Solution to Crisis in Syria

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast reiterated his country's stance on the crisis in Syria, calling for finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria through dialogue among the Syrians themselves.

He stressed that only the Syrian people can decide their destiny far from foreign interference, and through elections and democratic ways.

At a press conference,  Mehmanparast called on all sides to stop violence and terrorist acts and launch national dialogue.

On checking an Iranian airplane bound to Syria in Iraq, Mehmanparast said, "Iran protests on checking the airplane and rejects this step... it will refer the issue to the Iraqi officials and tell them to stop such procedures which are incited by the United States of America and the Zionist Entity."
