Dubai Sportex Middle East 2009, a three-day exhibition which showcases the very latest in sports, fitness, health, outdoor and stadium equipment in the region was inaugurated at the Dubai World Trade Centre yesterday by Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The exhibition is endorsed by Dubai Sports Council and presented by Dubai Sports City.
Speaking to Gulf News, Khalid Al Zarouni, President of Dubai Sports City said: "It is indeed encouraging to see more countries participating in this exhibition. Dubai has an important place in sports retail with the best products coming here. It will enhance the sports scene here with the latest and best which are easier and safer for everyone to use."
The exhibition, open to trade members and the public, promises an exciting three days of business, education and fun. Special events taking place during the show include a Body Building Championship organised in association with the Emirates Bodybuilding Federation with athletes from across the region competing to win the Sportex Cup.
"Now in its seventh year, Sportex will welcome exhibitors from around the globe, with pavilions dedicated to exhibitors from China, Korea and Taiwan, plus participation from regional companies as well as those from the US, Europe and Thailand. Sportex is the leading business arena for the region's sports and leisure industry. Elements such as the Body Building Championship make this a very vibrant and exciting show, while the increasing number of exhibitors and visitors are testament to the growing interest in health and wellness in the region," said Abdul Rahman Falaknaz, President of show organisers International Expo-Consults (IEC).
