Internet users across Oman are logging on in bigger numbers than ever before to benefit from the free Wi-Fi connections that Omantel Business has been providing in some of Oman's most popular and busiest locations from Muscat International Airport to all of the country's leading coffee chains.

The number of people using the Wi-Fi services doubled in June with numbers reaching just under 150,000 from a figure of just 75,000 a month earlier - showing the increased value the public places on having ever increasing opportunities to log on for free while in their favourite coffee shop, a release said.

Outlets that Omantel Business have linked up with to provide free Wi-Fi connectivity include Muscat International Airport, Starbucks, Costa Coffee, Second Cup, Mood Café, Al Makan, Darcys, Toot Café and others in Muscat, according to a press release.

Ali Saleh Awadh al Hadid, general manager, corporate sales, said, "We have been delighted with the success that our Wi-Fi services are having in giving customers the opportunity to log on and stay connected at the airport or while out and about enjoying a relaxing cup of coffee.

"The fact that the number of users has doubled in just one month shows how popular the service has become for both travellers using the airport and the members of Oman's large coffee drinking culture," Hadid added.
