Nuclear operator demonstrates its commitment to safety, quality and efficiency with the achievement of a total of five international standards certifications
ABU DHABI, 14 February 2012 - The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) today announced that it has achieved another five international standards certifications, as part of the organization's commitment to safe and efficient operations, quality and performance excellence. The international standards were achieved across a number of strategic management systems, such as occupational health and safety and environmental management.
This achievement builds on the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) standard received in May 2011. The five new accreditations have been fully integrated within the QMS to create a holistic management system under the guidelines of PAS 99.
ENEC has achieved the accreditations in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety (OHSAS 18001); Information Security (ISO 27001); IT Service Management (ISO 20000); Business Continuity Management (BS 25999); and Environmental Management (ISO 14001).
"ENEC's commitment towards excellence has been demonstrated by the achievement of a total of five international standards in strategic areas such as health and safety, security, quality and performance excellence, and efficient operations," said Mohamed Al Hammadi, Chief Executive Officer of ENEC. "These international standards, achieved through two years of hard work, help us advance as a world-class organization, provide assurance to our stakeholders and position us as a best-practice program that will meet our nation's growing energy needs."
These certifications represent the highest level of excellence in systems management. The standards are developed by global technical committees, comprising experts from the industrial, technical and business sectors which ask for and use the standards. These experts may be supported by representatives of government agencies, testing laboratories, consumer associations, non-governmental organizations and academic experts. Given the diverse group of stakeholders, the resulting standard serves as a reference framework, with a common technological language, between suppliers and stakeholders.
