Stores to come up in the GCC and India
Cellucom, the Dubai-based premier distributor and retailer of mobility products, will open 750 new stores across the GCC and in India by the end of 2009, a top executive said. "In India by the end of next year we will open 500 stores and the remaining 250 stores will be opened in other GCC countries," Arun Nagar, founder and managing director, Cellucom Group, told The Business Weekly.
Cellucom, which was established in 1999, has 90 outlets currently operating in the GCC states. It adds to increase the number of stores to 250 by the end of next year. "Although we will continues to grow in the UAE, particularly in Abu Dhabi and other emirates, the future expansion in the region will come mainly from Kuwait and Oman," he said.
Cellucom sees tremendous growth potential in Oman, where it already has 11 stores. The company will add another three more outlets in the Sultanate by the end of this year. In Bahrain, where Cellucom has nine stores already, it will add three more stores by the end of 2008.
Besides Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in the GCC countries, Cellucom is also having plans to enter the lucrative market of Egypt and Jordan in the Middle East. "We have big plans in Kuwait which we will embark on next year and includes acquiring an existing business which has a retail presence there," Nagar said.
A global enterprise with ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 certification, Cellucom is engaged in the sales of communication products, digital devices and servicing of mobile phones and has a strong distribution and retail presence all over the GCC and East Africa. The group head office is located at the Dubai Airport Free Zone.
Nagar said that the company basically seeks to synergise those technologies that facilitate customer's freedom of performing tasks efficiently, entertaining himself with games and music and staying 'in touch' while travelling. A notebook can be paired with a 3G or GPRS card to surf the internet; a mobile phone can connect to a blue tooth car kit to allow wire-free conversations while driving; and a mobile phone with a 3G-enabled SIM card facilitates video chatting. "Cellucom, by all means, is in step with today's changed lifestyle demands and is also known for incorporating intelligent fashion into its product ensemble," he added.
