Activating 'The Leader of the 21st Century' model

Latest edition of Executive Leaders Programme open to federal and local government entities and private sector

Dubai, September 2, 2015: The UAE government has announced that the registration for the fourth Executive Leaders Programme within the UAE Government Leaders Programme has started and will remain open until September 30, 2015. The programme is considered to be an activation of 'The Leader of the 21st Century' model launched recently by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Abdullah Bin Touq, Executive Director of Excellence and Leadership in the Prime Minister Office, said the launch of the fourth Executive Leaders Programme marks the first practical application of the 'The Leader of the 21st Century' model, inspired by the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The model includes eight main pillars aimed at preparing national leaders with a global perspective, capable of keeping up with the changes and anticipating future challenges.

Bin Touq said the fourth Executive Leaders Programme will be open to federal and local government entities as well as the private sector. The previous three editions of the programme were open only to executives and directors of departments in the federal government. Besides, unlike the previous nomination process, which was carried out only through government entities, in the new format, the programme is open for self-nomination in order to reach the largest possible number of leaders, he said.

Bin Touq added that by opening the registration process to the local government entities and leading private companies, the UAE Government Leaders Programme aims to the promote 'The Leader of the 21st Century' model, making it a benchmark in the preparation of UAE leaders, and raising the level of excellence in various sectors to increase innovation at work.

The fourth Executive Leaders Programme extends for 15 months, and includes six courses. The registration for the programme can be completed through UAE Government Leaders Programme website www.uaeglp.gov.ae. The registration process will be followed by the evaluation of the applications. Applications which meet the terms of the programme will enter the second phase of the evaluation. The names of the selected candidates will be announced on November 1st.

Taking into account the needs and responsibilities of the participants, the UAE Government Leaders Programme courses are held for only three to four days once every two months. Opportunity is provided for leaders to develop their expertise through practical training under the supervision of a group of global specialists and prestigious universities and academic institutions in the field.

The Executive Leaders category includes executives and directors of departments in the federal and local government entities as well as leading private sector organisations and companies. They will be given training to enhance their decision making skills and develop strategies and build an organization capable of adapting to changes.

The UAE Government Leaders Programme was established in 2008 on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It includes four categories: Strategic Leaders Programme, Executive Leaders Programme, Future Leaders Programme and Innovative Leaders Programme. It is designed to enable government entities to achieve the strategic objectives and strengthen national capacities through collaboration with the best specialised scientific centres, and through field visits to learn from the best experiences of leading countries.
