With a recent survey finding that over half of residents in the United Arab Emirates spend more money during the holy month, Dubai's Ramadan Night Market offers an ideal location for local vendors to exhibit their products.

"We feel that this is the right area to target that market and gain awareness. Our target market is mainly younger people, hipsters, those who like something new," said Samar Saifi, co-founder of Vantayga Perfumes.

"Being here has really helped us. We've already been invited to have a stall in Global Village and have found some distributors and people in our industry walking around, it's really good exposure.

"The 5th annual 10-day night souq opened its doors on June 23rd and will run until July 2nd at the Dubai World Trade Centre. With over 100,000 visitors expected, more than 300 exhibitors booked booths months in advance. As one of the largest events of its kind in the region, the Ramadan Night Market offers an alternative to traditional malls.

"We realise the importance of indoor entertainment, particularly during hot summer and the fact that most children are on vacation, so this fun-filled consumer fair with diverse range of interests is just the right answer," said Samantha Cordeiro Miranda, brand manager of Sumansa Exhibitions who organised the event.

The 10 day period works to the advantage of small local businesses, which need such platforms to boost sales, as well as established brands who want to reach their target market in an intimate environment. Proof of the market's success can be seen in vendors, of which over 50 percent of are repeat exhibitors.Ramadan Night Market also hosts activities for kids and adults, a henna majlis to compliment the Eid theme, lucky draws, free health check-ups and handwriting analysis among other attractions that are guaranteed to attract as many visitors as possible.
