She hailed the vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah to bolster the role of the people of Sharjah in the construction and development process, as well as in decision-making, discussing community affairs and assisting the Government in serving public interest, through giving them the right to vote and stand as candidates in the Sharjah Consultative Council elections.

She added: "The Sharjah Consultative Council is a true partner to the Government of Sharjah in making decisions and issuing regulations. It builds on the success of the national experience of the Federal National Council in light of the directives of His Highness President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to elect half of its members."

A first in the history of Sharjah's highest advisory body since its inception in 1999, HE Al Mulla expressed her pride at being the first woman to be elected to chair the Council, saying this is a testament to the keenness of the people of Sharjah to empower all segments of society, especially women, to highlight their leading role in serving the country and the Emirate.
