Sharjah, UAE - Sharjah Economic Development Department has received the international ISO 27001:2013 certification from Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety services including a full range of business process audit and support services, to a wide range of industries around the world.

The Sharjah Economic Development underwent rigorous, impartial, comprehensive auditing and assessment by Intertek auditors to ensure that their Information Security Management System (ISMS) was designed and implemented in compliance with the ISO 27001:2013 standard, before being awarded this certification.

A detailed risk assessment was undertaken and the Department's framework was evaluated for the efficiency of its infrastructure. Its external services were also tested to ensure confidentiality, integrity, secure exchange of data and availability of critical information.

This certification assures that all the Sharjah Economic Development Department systems holding its valuable information are protected through the use of ISMS, while highlighting the strict standards and controls that have been implemented in setting up the overall technological infrastructure.

With these certifications the Sharjah Economic Development Department leverages its Information Technology infrastructure to better manage, secure and protect citizens' data, while driving operational excellence and building customer trust and confidence.
