MUSCAT -- PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) organised a seminar entitled "Challenging Times" at the Grand Hyatt Muscat recently. The aim of the seminar was to provide participants with an understanding of the current global financial situation and the potential impact of this situation in Oman and across the Gulf region. Kenneth MacFarlane, the Country Senior Partner of PwC in Oman, welcomed invitees and gave a breif presenation about the firm in Oman and shared some insights in to the Business Advisory Services that PricewaterhouseCoopers is providing in the region especially in Oman.
The event was well attended by a number of dignitaries and business leaders, including Nasser bin Khamis al Jashmi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Nasser al Rawahy, Deputy Chairman of the State Audit Institution, Mohammed Jawad bin Hassan, Adviser to the Ministry of Finance as well as CEOs and CFOs of major financial services, energy and manufacturing and consutriction companies.
Stephen Anderson, a PwC Financial Advisory Partner based in Qatar, spoke in detail about the global financial crisis, how it started and the effect that it is currently having on the financial markets in the Middle East. Sharing his experiences working with a large number of banks and financial services providers, Stephen provided a number of insights into what participants could expect over the next few months in these volatile times. He described the 10 Fundamental Priorities that PwC believes organisations need to focus on to position themselves through a potential downturn and resultant upturn.
