Tehran, April 13, IRNA
Deputy foreign minister for Arab and Africa Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said Thursday that the recent visit of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Abu Musa Island is an internal affair and it was within framework of his provincial tour to Hormuzgan.
Amir Abdollahian made the remarks in response to a reaction by the United Arab Emirates' Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahayan to President Ahmadinejad's visit to Iranian island of Abu Musa.
Referring to the fact that the Greater and Lesser Tubs and Abu Musa have always belonged to Iran and will remain to do so, he noted that Islamic Republic of Iran is seriously determined to enhance diplomatic ties with UAE.
President Ahmadinejad visited Abu Musa island (about some 60 km from UAE) on Wednesday as part of his tour of IR Iran's Hormuzgan province.
