MUSCAT -- Based on the great attention accorded by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to the expansion of the road network in the Sultanate, and, in implementation of Royal orders in this regard, the Ministry of Transport and Communications will implement two major projects in the Batinah and Dakhiliyah regions.

The Ministry will work to construct Wadi al Sahtan road in the Wilayat of Al Rustaq, the Batinah region, and carry out the dualisation of Farq-Marfa Daris road in the Wilayat of Nizwa in the Dakhiliyah region. This was announced by Salim bin Mohammed al Nuaimi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

In a statement to Oman, Arabic sister daily of the Oman Daily Observer, Al Nuaimi said that work on Wadi Al Sahtan road will proceed from the main road branching at the crossroads of the existing Al Rustaq-Maskan road. The crossroads, which lies 11 km from Al Rustaq roundabout, ends at Al Need Village. The dualisation of Farq-Marfa Daris road, a 17km stretch, starts at Farq roundabout and ends at the Hai Al Turath road-Ghubrat Nizwa road at the village of Marfa Daris.
